Do's and Don'ts

Do...

  1. Select three wedding companies and ask to see their showreels. This will enable you to make comparisons and see what style you prefer.
  2. Speak to your friends who have recently married and ask for their recommendations
  3. Think carefully about what you want covered (bride getting ready, bride's arrival, filming in the church, photographs, reception, speeches, dancing)
  4. Discuss your requirements with the video company in detail beforehand. They won't know who Great Aunt Doris is and how offended she will be if she is left out of the final edit!
  5. Ensure that your cameraman will have a spare camera with him in case of breakdown on the day. Your wedding is an unrepeatable event!

  2. Overload the cameraman with information. Keep it simple!
  3. Starve your cameraman! They work better when fuelled up (and don't have to resort to stealing buns when your mother-in-law isn't watching)
  4. Be afraid to ask the cameraman to wear clothes appropriate to your taste and event. If everyone else has to wear a grass skirt...
